Menes, Abraham

Menes, Abraham
(1897-1969)
   American Jewish historian. He was born in Grodno, Poland, and founded a branch of the socialist party the Bund there; he later became vice-chairman of the Grodno Jewish community. In 1920 he moved to Berlin, and he subsequently settled in Paris, where he contributed to the Yiddish Encyclopedia. In 1940 he moved to the US. He published studies of the economic and social aspects of Jewish history.
